UBCcard Eligibility

All UBC Faculty appointments are eligible for UBCcards. Faculty members who require UBCcards prior to their appointment start dates should contact their departments and request an "Early ID".

Visiting scholars must have an active appointment on UBC Human Resources' Management System (HRMS) in order to be eligible for the UBCcard. Department administrators must complete the necessary appointment form and forward it to Faculty Relations.

All UBC Staff Appointees are eligible for the UBCcard. Staff members who require a UBCcard prior to their appointment start dates should contact their respective departments and request an "Early ID".

Staff members of the following entities are ineligible for the UBCcard. For more information on obtaining a UBC Library Card, please contact the Koerner Library or the Library Help Desk at 604.822.2406:

  • AAPS Office
  • Alma Mater Society
  • Alumni Association
  • CUPE Office Staff
  • Faculty Association Office Staff
  • Faculty Pension Plan Board
  • Prevention of Organ Failure Centre of Excellence
  • PrioNet Canada Theological Colleges
  • TRIUMF

Faculty and staff who apply for their UBCcards online are still required to visit the UBCcard office  in person and show government-issued photo ID to pick up their cards. Please ensure that you have the following before filling out your application online:
